2010 is the year for 3d television. At the 2010 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) many television producers announced plans
to produce and market 3d televisions, computer monitors, video projectors and blu-ray players.
3D ready tv just means that the televisions will work with both 2D and 3D programming.
Samsung announced that it will produce 3D ready HD TV monitors and blu-ray players that will start being sold in June.
Unlike the war between HDTV and Blu-ray, there now is one standard format for all 3D ready TVs, projectors, and monitors.
The Blu-ray Disc Association announced the adoption of the standard format that will be compatible with all devices.
3D screens for mobile devices also seems inevitable as there were several vendors demonstrating the technology at the 2010 CES.
Panasonic, JVC, Sony, LG, Samsung and others television manufacturers have all embraced 3D ready TV’s and devices. The driving
force behind the adoption of the technology has been the unprecedented success of the 3D movie Avatar. Avatar became
the highest grossing film of all time with over $2.2 billion in worldwide revenue as of February 10, 2010.
